The Andersen & Lauth winter 2011 collection is called “ Atelier ”.

For winter 2011 and coming seasons we will have always a part of the collection as “ Atelier ”. “ Atelier ” is a small capsule collection that celebrates our love for handmade and unique pieces. As you know It is no secret that we Love to make beautiful handmade clothes. We are blessed to be working with so many great people. Many of the best hand-embroidery craftsmen in the world work on our “ Atelier ” Andersen & Lauth collection. We study the history of embroideries. Each period has its own charm, its own niche and look. Our favorite is the victorian period. Imagine a world without factories, without technical limitations, each piece of clothing made by hand. All clothes in “ Atelier ” are hand-made in our ateliers. Those pieces reflect the love and passion we have for the old fashion workmanship, before the modern technological era. These designs are feminine, exciting, timeless.

The collection in whole is inspired by the 1920's women. And what a great period that was! Between two World Wars, women were trying to find their identities, become more emancipated and succeed in a man's world. They would stop wearing the conservative corset, they would wear knee-high skirts, low waisted dresses, pants, cloche hats and the bob cut.  This is the time when women revolutionized the fashion world and introduced a more masculine look that soon became popular. Flat-chested women were considered attractive. Even the fabrics we're getting  a makeover in the 1920's. This is when the rayon was invented, being used to fabric stockings, since silk was more expensive. Also, cotton and lace were widely used. Icons of the 1920's were Evelyn Brent, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Claudette Colbert, Louise Brooks and more. Let's not forget another symbol of this time period:  "THE FLAPPER". A flapper was a woman who was not afraid to take risks and loved to push boundaries. She would have a libertine approach towards life, art and sex, she would listen to jazz and take late night outings.

The Andersen & Lauth collection is a Romantic journey through time.  We simply think that the women of the world deserve beutiful things made with Love and true passion.
